GENERLINK QUESTIONS
Q:
Will I need a generator in order to
use the Generlink system?
A: Yes, you will need a generator to
use the Generlink system. See, GenerLink
is an interconnection device that enables
you to connect your portable generator
directly to your home's wiring system.
During a power outage, your
generator becomes your source of
emergency back-up power. Generlink is
designed as an alternative to expensive
transfer switches &
hazardous extension cords.
Q: Is there potential damage to appliances
using a GenerLink/Generator Combo?
A: No, there is NO risk of damaging to
your appliances when using a generator
via the Generlink device. However, it is
important to exercise care when
selecting your generator to ensure you
are buying a high quality generator.
Q: Can I run an entire house on a portable
generator?
A: No, the appliances setup in an average
home relatively consume low amounts of
electricity to operate once they are
started. However, many of them require
a significant amount of electricity to
start up. Please review the appliance
guide to determine the start-up wattage
required for individual appliances.
Q: What happens when power is restored
but a generator is operating through
Generlink?
A: If power is restored while you have
a generator powering your home the
generator will remain the source of
power for your home until you turn it
off. Once you turn off the generator,
your Generlink connection will
automatically switch your home
back to utilizing your utility power.
Finally, Generlink system’s have built-in
features for safety that prevent back
feed. This eliminates hazardous
conditions for you & other service
personnel.
Q. How can I tell when the utility power is
restored?
A: There are three indicator lights on
GenerLink, two green and one red.
When both green lights are illuminated,
this represents a normal condition
where utility power is present.
When your utility has restored power you
can deenergize and disconnect your
generator from GenerLink. If the red
light is illuminated at any time or in
conjunction with a green light, there
is a potential problem and you should
call your utility immediately.
Q. What happens if a generator gets
overloaded?
A. Generators have circuit breakers
that are programmed to activate in
the event of an “overload”. However,
Generator that does not have a circuit
breaker will not be suitable for use with
GenerLink.
